The Guyana Police Force has not been enjoying a very good month.
This evening new information is coming to hand that the Deputy Commander of the Force’s ‘E’ Division, Assistant Superintendent, Allistair Roberts has found himself in some trouble after he allegedly abused a Police Constable.
The News Room has been able to confirm that the Senior Police Officer sometime between Thursday and Friday (March 24, 2017), dealt a Police Constable several slaps to the face as the rank was on duty in Linden.
Multiple sources have confirmed that Constable Legall, who usually performs Court duties in the Division was assaulted by the senior officer who visited the location where the rank was on duty at the time.
It is alleged that the slaps caused the Officer severe bodily harm as his ear according to his mother, is “giving off a liquid substance.”
The mother is not taking the matter lightly, and she has already contacted several senior members of the force registering her disgust with the development. She also communicated her intention to take private legal action against the senior police officer.
When the News Room contacted the Divisional Commander this evening, he reported that he was not aware of the development but would check on it immediately.
This is the fourth Assistant Superintendent of Police to have found himself in trouble thus far for the month of March.
Of the four ASPs, three of them are being investigated for assaulting and or abusing junior police ranks.
