Three prisoners today (Friday June 30, 2017) appeared before Magistrate Alex Moore at the New Amsterdam Magistrates Court, to jointly answer to a murder and attempted murder charges.
The trio who were already on remand for separate murders appeared in Court to answer to the murder of 27 year old Neshan Jagmohan and attempted murder of Ramnarine Jagmohan. The Jagmohan brothers were also on remand for murder.
The three accused are 23-year-old Ramchand Latchman of #71 Village Corentyne, Berbice, 24-year-old Rooplall Ibrahim of Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice (W.C.B) and 25-year-old Dillon Boucher of Haslington, East Coast Demerara (E.C.D).
They were not required to plead to the indictable charges.
The court heard that on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the New Amsterdam Prison, the three murdered Nesha and jointly unlawfully and maliciously wounded his brother, Ramnarine with intent to murder him as well.
According to reports, on the day in question, the Jagmohan brothers had in their possession an improvised weapon which they intended to sell to an inmate whose name was given as Delroy Frazer to murder Boucher.
However, Boucher got wind of the plot and was under the impression that the Jagmohan brothers were a part of the plot. Therefore, he along with two other inmates; Latchman and Ibrahim attacked the Jagmohan brothers.
Neshan sustained 25 stab wounds about his body and succumbed at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital, while Ramnarine was stabbed to his right side and was admitted a patient at the Health Institution. He has since been discharged.
Following the court proceedings, the three accused were ordered to return to court on September 04, 2017.
