Man falls from three-storey Psychiatric hospital

The police in Berbice are investigating an accident that left a man in a critical condition at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital on Monday, January 15, 2018.

News Room understands that at about 15:30hrs, the man, who is employed by a private construction firm and whose name was only given as “Devin” was picked up in an unconscious state and rushed to the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after he fell from the third storey of the New Amsterdam Psychiatric Hospital.

Efforts are being made to have him transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.

News Room understands that the workers were contracted to demolish the old psychiatric hospital and it was while they were on the third floor that the victim stepped on a piece of wooden flooring which broke and caused him to fall.
