Munroe aims to further develop Table Tennis after re-election as GTTA boss

After being re-elected as President of the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA), Godfrey Munroe is aiming for development and better camaraderie to move the sport forward.

He told News Room Sport recently: “We have some committees to formulate and once that is up and running I think we can further the programmes we have in mind… moving forward there have been recommendations for fundraising and once we are up and running I believe we can take the sport in the right direction which is development for the players.”

Munroe also pinpointed the immediate step the new body will take in an effort to ensure that Table Tennis continues to grow.

“What we found is that for some reason coaches can’t work together so what we want to do is look into that but we also want betterment for our coaches because we know it is a hard sacrifice that they make with their and we believe that it is time coaches started getting paid.”

Munroe was re-elected unopposed during the Association’s Annual General Meeting on Sunday last, while Andrew Daly was elected as Senior Vice President and businessman, Gary Pratt was elected as Junior Vice President.

Deidre Baynes – Edghill and Linden Johnson returned to serve the Association as Treasurer and Secretary, respectively.

The new members of the executive include Joel Wilburg, Royston Alkins and Jody Ann Blake were nominated to serve as Public Relations Officer and Assistant Secretary/Treasurer, respectively.
