A 35-year-old Chef of East Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown was on Wednesday arrested for the murder of a Linden businessman, Romel Edison Gomes.
John Caesar was arrested at Carmichael Street, Georgetown following an intelligence-led operation, the police said in a statement.
He is expected to be charged with murder next week.
Gomes, 32, was found dead in his Wismar, Linden shop on March 12, shortly after he was heard arguing with two males.
Police had said after the argument, a loud explosion was heard and the suspects fled the scene with the victim’s motor car – PVV 2057 – which was parked in front of the shop.
Gomes was discovered in a pool of blood with his hands bound in front and a bandana tied around his mouth.
He was found with a suspected gunshot on the right temple, a small laceration on top of the head and another lacerated wound to the neck. A post-mortem later gave his cause of death as ‘gunshot wound to the head.’
His car was later recovered intact at One Mile Wismar on March 13.
