Berbice wife killer dies

A 30-year-old man of Limlair Village East Berbice, Corentyne, who murdered his reputed wife last Thursday succumbed at the Port Mourant hospital Sunday evening, his relatives have confirmed to News Room.

Imran Lyte, a farmer consumed a poisonous substance shortly after stabbing 28-year-old Tovonnie Alexci Simmons 12 times before slitting her throat a short distance from their home. The woman was stabbed to the breasts, back, hip, chest, chin and arms.

Up to Sunday, Lyte was said to be in a stable condition and the police had already begun making preparations to institute a murder charge.

The couple had four children.
