South Ruimveldt man charged with rape of teen girl

A 28-year-old man of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown was on Monday charged with the rape of a 15-year-old girl.

Travis John appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan and was not required to plea to the charge which was read in camera.

The rape took place on February 1, 2017, at Kitty, Georgetown.

He was released on $150,000 bail and will return to court on August 20.

According to reports, both parties are known to each other and on the day in question John went over to the teen’s home where he raped her.

However, the teen’s mother found out and reported the matter to the Police.

This is the same John who was arrested and charged last month after he was accused of committing an armed robbery on a man who had just left a bank on the East Coast of Demerara with over $1.7 million.
