Ex-Police Special Constable Jermain Bristol was on Friday remanded to prison for the murder of his reputed wife.

Bristol appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman and was not required to plea to the indictable charge, which alleged that on August 22 at Lot 272 Freeman Street, East La Penitence Georgetown he murdered Shenece Lawrence, 24.

Bristol cried throughout his court appearance while telling the court that he was sorry for his actions. He was remanded to prison until August 27 when the matter will be recalled before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan.

He hid his face from the media while being escorted by the Police.

The Post Mortem Examination (PME) performed by Dr Nehal Singh revealed that Lawrence died from multiple stab wounds to the neck.

Police found Lawrence’s body with the knife stuck in her neck at the home she had shared with Bristol at around 11:30hrs on the day in question.

It is alleged that Bristol, a Security Guard, walked to the Brickdam Police Station, and turned himself in, after committing the brutal crime.

The young woman and Bristol shared a five-year relationship and started to live together two months ago but things went sour and she moved out of the house.

She returned on Wednesday when she met her death.
