A suspected bandit was on Tuesday morning nabbed by private security as he was trying to break into the house of a 66-year-old woman, Rajkumarie Singh.

The woman, who lives alone at her Uitvlugt, West Coast Demerara (WCD) home, told News Room that she was about to sleep when the alarm was sounded.

Delta Security, a private firm which has started operations this year, responded promptly.

News Room understands that when the response team arrived at the location, the suspect was still at the scene, trying to break into the house.

Upon noticing the security officers, the perpetrator fled the scene, however, he was chased by the armed guards.

The suspect was eventually apprehended and taken to the Leonora Police Station, WCD.

Singh explained that the perpetrator had robbed her sometime before and had served jail-time for his actions.

She believes that the man returned with a motive to kill, since he was armed with a knife which was left by her house after he tried to escape.

The pensioner lauded the private security firm for their swift response, noting that personnel stayed with her on the phone until the perpetrator was caught.
