Johnathan Andries rocketed two goals into Plaisance Bosco to propel defending champions West Ruimveldt to a comfortable 2-1 victory when the seventh annual Courts Boys Pee Wee School Football tournament continued on Saturday at the Ministry of Education ground, Carifesta Avenue.
Andries netted in the 20th and 30th minutes to draw the match back for his team after Jude Daniels opened the scoring in the 10th minute for the East Coast Demerara unit.
One team that is steaming with threat towards West is St. Pius, and they hammered Soesdyke 6-0 on the back of a helmet-trick from the nimble Kadem Wellington (3rd, 8th ,15th & 21st) and a double from Keiron Garraway (33rd & 39th).
Despite the playing conditions of the ongoing round-of-16 does not eliminating teams, but rather placing them in a race for spots 1 to 16, former champions Marian Academy got the shock of their lives when they lost to Golden Grove 0-2 via the solo brilliance of Bryan Wharton (32nd & 38th).
St. Agnes showed their might as play-maker Justin Alcindor struck seven goals to rattle Colaaco Primary. Their misery was not over as Shamar Murray struck in the 22nd and 25th minutes for the 9-0 route.
The trio of Carlos Negus (32nd), John Harry (34th) and Emanuel Tinch (35th) helped Tucville to a 3-0 triumph over Mae’s, while Jadon Ceres strike in the 26th could not stop Timehri from losing to Mocha 4-1. Jiheam Lewis (13th & 28th), Isaiah Lindon (24th) and Matthew Murray (39th) netted for the East Bank Demerara institution.
Other results saw St. Ambrose edge South Ruimveldt 2-1 and North Georgetown won 3-1 over Enterprise Primary. More action will ensue on October 27 with teams pushing for a spot in the final four.
