A resident of Lot 37 Felicity Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was killed in an accident on Wednesday a short distance away from his home.
According to the police, 37-year-old Reaz Nazir was struck down by motorcar PVV 7987 driven by a 50-year-old resident of Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown at about 06:30hrs on the Felicity Railway Embankment.
The driver told police ranks that he noticed Nazir standing on the northern parapet when he suddenly ran into the path of the vehicle.
Nazir was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he received medical attention and was admitted but died at about 16:20hrs.
The driver, who passed a breathalyzer test, is in custody and assisting with the investigation.
