A joint operation by security forces on Saturday resulted in the destruction of cocaine and marijuana that had the street value of $513, 310,940.
Police Headquarters revealed that the Force and the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) conducted the operation at Yarrowkabra, Linden/Soesdyke Highway and included representatives from the Ministry of Public Security, National Anti-Narcotics Agency (NANA) and Guyana Forensic Science Laboratory (GFSL), who witnessed the destruction.
A total of 132 kilograms of cocaine and 440 kilograms of cannabis were destroyed by the police, while 345 kilograms cocaine and 554 kilograms of cannabis were destroyed by CANU.
The drugs were tested by members of the GFSL and then burnt by fire.
