The country’s Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence has said President David Granger’s health condition is one in which there is a “high percentage of recovery.”

The President was diagnosed as suffering from Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, a form of cancer, and is receiving treatment after undergoing surgery in Cuba.

The Government has not stated at what stage of the disease the President was diagnosed and Minister Lawrence was unable to say.

“There is enough evidence to show that…there is a high percentage of recovery and I am quite certain that His Excellency will be receiving the treatment.

“…I am quite certain that in a couple of weeks we will see him bounce right back,” Lawrence told the News Room.

In a release Wednesday evening, the Guyana Embassy in Cuba stated that the President has been working and resting in accordance with the advice he has been receiving from his doctors.

“He is in fine form and a good frame of mind,” the Embassy stated.

“He is expected to fully recover under the supervision of his doctors.”
