Truck crashes into Christmas Tree at Rahaman’s Park

A 40-ft container truck crashed into the famous Christmas Tree at Rahaman’s Park, Greater Georgetown Wednesday morning.

News Room understands that persons were decorating the tree when the accident occurred. Reports indicate that the driver of the truck tried to avoid colliding with a cyclist who rode into his path during a heavy downpour of rain.

However, the cyclist ended up under the truck and received injuries. He was rushed to the hospital.

On December 2 last year, the same tree collapsed while workmen were in the process of setting up the structure for the annual light-up ceremony.

The tree is still on schedule for its annual light up ceremony slated for Friday, November 30.
