A summons has been issued for the arrest of the teen who allegedly beat a Headteacher and injured her 3-year-old son at Number 9 Village, West Coast Berbice on Saturday last.
Following legal advice obtained, the Police charged the 16-year-old with unlawful wounding but he did not show up to the Fort Wellington Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday to answer to the charge.
As such, a new court date has been set for December 12.
The Headmistress (ag) of the Number 5 Primary School, West Coast Berbice (WCB), Gangadai Sebarat Issacs, is still in pain from the blows she received at the hands of the teenager, who has been described as a known “troublemaker” in the community.
In explaining what occurred, Issacs said she and her children were walking to her mother’s house in Number 9 Village, WCB when she noticed the teenager walking in the opposite direction.
She said that he approached her in an aggressive way and so she stepped aside to let him pass but the teenager continued to walk towards her and her 3-year-old son.
“I cautioned him and ask if he wasn’t seeing but he didn’t respond so I pulled my son closer for him to pass again but he walked into my son and bumped into him. I again cautioned him but he turned around and pushed me in my stomach,” the Headteacher said.
Fearing for the safety of her toddler, the mother said she held onto her son but the teenager kissed her on the lips.
“I felt disgusted and spit and he began beating me in my face and mouth and my body”, the Headmistress recounted.
News Room understands that there are several reports of misdemeanor lodged against the teenager at the Police Station.
