Guns stolen from Cops recovered

Two guns stolen from Police officers in separate incidents have been recovered.

The Guyana Police Force in a statement on Tuesday evening noted that an Officer stationed in ‘C’ Division was robbed on Monday at around 18:00hrs of his Force issued handgun, jewelry, and cell phone at Greenville Park, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

Following “diligent police investigation,” the handgun and the jewellery were recovered and two suspects arrested, the police said.

Additionally, investigators were also able to recover a Service Pistol stolen from a Policeman who was stabbed several times at a club in Second Street, Alberttown about 01:00hrs Saturday.

Police stated that the gun was recovered on Tuesday among a pile of garbage in South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.

Investigations are ongoing in both matters.
