Thandikuma Bakker, a 37-year-old minibus conductor, appeared before Magistrate Sherdel Marcus- Isaacs Tuesday, slapped with two counts of rape involving a 13-year-old girl.
He was not required to plea to the charges, one of which alleged that between May 1, 2018, and May 31, 2018, in Georgetown, he engaged in sexual activity with a child under the age of 16.
It is further alleged that committed another act with the child between June 1, 2018, and June 30, 2018, in Mahdia.
He was released on $150,000 bail on each charge and the matter is adjourned until January 29, 2019.
Bakker was also ordered to keep away from the victim.
It is alleged that he and the teenager were involved in a relationship during which he gave her money and took her on trips.
The victim’s parents found out and sought the intervention of the police.
