The Leader of the Opposition, Bharrat Jagdeo on Friday met with Chairman of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Dr Timothy Harris who is also the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, at his Church Street, Georgetown office.

A brief statement from the PPP noted that the meeting centered around the No-Confidence Motion that was successfully passed against the Coalition Government in the National Assembly on December 21, 2018.

Also present at the meeting was CARICOM-Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and other PPP members.

The passage of the Opposition-sponsored motion has triggered early elections in Guyana, slated to be held in the next 54 days but the vote of former Government Parliamentarian, Charrandass Persaud, which essentially gave the Opposition the majority it needed to pass the motion, is now subject to court proceedings.
