Three children and a driver were reportedly rushed to the hospital this morning after the car they were in exploded while on Charlotte and Oronoque Streets, Georgetown at around 8am.
News Room understands that the bonnet of the car, HB 8512, started to smoke before going up in flames.
The Guyana Fire Service arrived at the scene and took control of the situation.
The driver of the car claimed that he last bought fuel from a GuyOil gas station.
This is the fifth vehicle to have exploded in the space of two weeks across the country.
Persons have questioned the quality of fuel sold by GuyOil and also complained about the odour but the oil company in a recent statement defended their product by indicating that the fuel being sold is “certified.”
The company noted that it has not received any reports from its customers or franchise holders that they have experienced any challenges in the operation of their vehicles as a result of fuel purchased from its Service Stations.
