Police are investigating the death of a so far unidentified man who was crushed to death on the Annandale Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD) in the wee hours of Sunday after he jumped off the tray of a canter.
News Room understands that the Canter Truck GHH 3986 was being driven by a 50-year-old resident of Paradise, ECD when the man in the tray asked him to stop at around 3:20hrs.
Police said the man attempted to jump off the Canter but fell onto the road surface when the left rear wheel ran over his head.
The driver took him to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver is reportedly in police custody. News Room understands that the victim was heading home from the Buxton Jovert.
