Ansa McAl Trading, through Stag Beer, has teamed up with Santos Football Club and the Kashif and Shanghai Organisation to facilitate the return of the club’s Easter Fustal Festival, which kicks off on Saturday (March 30) at the National Gymnasium, Mandela Avenue.

Frank ‘English’ Parris, an Executive of Santos Football Club, while speaking at press briefing on Thursday, stated the 32 Streetball teams have been drawn from a wide cross-section of areas, which should make it very competitive.

At stake will be $700,000 for first place, while second to fourth will get $300,000, $200,000 and $100,000 respectively, along with medals.

Twenty-four teams are from Georgetown and the other eight are pairs from Linden, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara and West Demerara.

Kashif Muhammad, who is part of the organising group, explained that security would be of ultimate importance. Muhammad also stated they are working with the Guyana Football Federation to pave a way for the Elite League players to turn out for their community teams.

He further indicated the kick-off time is 19:30h to allow some of those players a chance train with their Elite League clubs.

Stag Beer, themed A Man’s Beer, plans to dole out various incentives for the numerous fans who are expected just to ensure they do not go home empty-handed. This was disclosed by Ansa McAl Brand Coordinator, Nigel Worrell.

The tournament will be played on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays so as to avoid clashes with Elite League games. Also, teams will have to be fully uniformed.

The final is tentatively slated for April 27. The match might be moved to Tuesday, April 30, the day before a national holiday.

Other sponsors include 94.1 FM, Sonic Boom, Dyna’s Trading and Star Party Rentals.
