Wanted woman nabbed, charged with 2009 murder of fuel dealer husband
Days after being arrested by police at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), 49-year-old Milaimi Alli appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court Wednesday charged with the 2009 murder of her husband Ramzan Alli.
Alli was not required to plea to the charge which alleged that between July 11 and 12, 2009, while being in the company of another, she murdered her husband at Coldingen Railway Embankment Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
Two weeks ago, Zaheed Mitchell, a 38-year-old driver of Foulis ECD, was also charged in connection with the murder; he is said to be the woman’s lover.
Milaimi Alli was represented by Attorney-at-law Bernard DaSilva.
Dasilva told the court that the defendant is the mother of five and lives at Kissoon Street, Good Hope, ECD.
Police Prosecutor, Neville Jeffers told the court that the police file is still incomplete.
The accused was remanded and the Chief Magistrate transferred the matter to the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court for April 15, 2019.
Local police arrested Alli at CJIA on April 4, 2019, following an arrest warrant issued on April 1; she was residing in New York, USA.
The investigation into the murder of the fuel dealer was reopened March after investigators received new information that Alli paid her lover $7M to kill him.
According to reports Ali was last seen alive by relatives when he left his Good Hope home on July 11, 2009, in his car.
He was discovered dead in the trunk of a rental car with a plastic bag duct-taped over his head on the Coldingen Railway Embankment Road on July 12, 2009.
