City warned of blackouts; GPL’s main power generator down

The Guyana Power and Light Inc has issued a public advisory warning of possible power outages in several areas in Georgetown from 6:30pm to 9pm Tuesday.

The company on its Facebook page noted that this is due to the fact that one of its largest power generation unit is currently unavailable because of a damaged alternator.

SERVICE INTERRUPTION – GEORGETOWN

TUESDAY, APRIL 30, 2019: One of GPL’s large power generation unit is currently unavailable due to a damaged alternator.

Should peak demand exceed generation capacity, the unavailability of this unit may result in service interruption in the following areas from 18:30 to 21:00 hrs this evening.

3. North Ruimveldt
4. Lamaha Springs
5. Festival City
6. Guyhoc Gardens
7. Guyhoc Park
8. Roxanne Burnham Gardens
9. Stevedore

12. PP QQ Scheme
