AFC Member Cathy Hughes on Saturday afternoon secured a landslide victory at the Party’s National Conference and Elections at the St Paul’s Retreat Centre at Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara.

The News Room was reliably informed that Hughes secured approximately 115 votes over that of Valarie Garrido Lowe who received some 60 votes, Nicola Trotman with almost 30 votes and Trevor Williams who got eight votes.

Delegates are now electing a new general secretary after which there will be the voting for new members of the Executive and the consideration of several motions, chief of which is one endorsing Khemraj Ramjattan as the next Prime Ministerial Candidate.

Earlier delegates elected Ramjattan as Leader of the Party while Raphael Trotman was elected as the Chairman unopposed.
