Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of 30-year-old Reynald Bala-oy Manuel Jr who died during an accident on board a vessel at the city wharf on Water Street, Georgetown on Monday at around 22:40hrs.
Police Headquarters revealed in a statement Tuesday that Manuel, a national of The Philippines, and other crew members were onboard motor vessel FWN Rapide 1.
It is alleged that Manuel and the others were in the process of fixing the twin-deck cover when the wire rope burst and caused the deck to fall into the hatch.
As a result, the Filipino national received multiple injuries to the body.
“The body was examined by Medical Technician who pronounced him dead,” Police Headquarters said.
The body is at the Lyken Funeral Home awaiting a Post-Mortem Examination.
