Weeks after a 26-year-old Alberttown, Georgetown businessman was freed from an ecstasy possession charge, the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) has filed an appeal against the decision.

Darrel John was on trial at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for selling the date-rape drug, ecstasy, to an under-aged boy and being in possession of two grams of the drug on February 12, 2018, at Lot 141 Alberttown.

However, August 8, 2019, Senior Magistrate Leron Daly dismissed the charge due to insufficient evidence. CANU is appealing the Magistrate’s decision to dismiss the case.

Meanwhile, the charge against John for selling narcotics to a minor between December 1, 2017, and January 31, 2018, at Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown is still ongoing.
