The Guyana Public Service Union (GPSU) expects President David Granger to name a date for elections respectful of the advice given to him by the chairman of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM).

“We are happy that the GECOM has made their readiness known by end of February.

“And we would expect President Granger to name a date respectful of that advice,” said GPSU President Patrick Yarde.

“That’s the position of the GPSU.”

He was speaking at the GPSU’s Biennial Conference, held at State House Wednesday.

Yarde said the Union has applied to be a domestic observer for the elections.

He said that the Union was of the very firm opinion that the voters’ list must be credible.
