The Ministry of Public Infrastructure has announced that electricity will be restored in Port Kaituma, Region One on Tuesday.
The district has been without reliable access to electricity for over a month and last week residents protested the Port Kaituma Power and Light Inc (PKPL)- the company that provides electricity to the community.
The News Room learnt that the sourcing of generator spare parts led to the long delay of power outage.
In a statement Monday, the Ministry of Public Infrastructure said the Power Producers and Distributors Inc. has successfully transported the replacement engine to Port Kaituma, Region One.
“The replacement engine arrived a few months after the community has been experiencing fluctuating power outages. [Minister David] Patterson sought [to] remedy this by replacing the old engine, so as to have residents resume to their normal course of life as soon as possible,” the short statement noted.
The Ministry said it is anticipated that the engine will be installed on Monday.
