Silver Hill residents charged with murder of ex-soldier
Two men and a woman were remanded to prison Wednesday for the murder of former member of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) Daniel Jermaine Forde, who was fatally beaten by residents of Silver Hill Soesdyke/Linden Highway.
Courtney Wolfe, his wife Candacy Wolfe and Curt Mingo appeared at the Diamond Magistrate’s Court and were not required to plead to the charge which alleged that on February 11, 2020, they murdered Forde.
The trio was remanded to prison until February 25. The husband and wife were represented by Attorney Nigel Hughes.
Forde died at the Diamond Diagnostic Centre on after he was beaten by residents of Silver Hill following reports that he attempted to rob a female shopkeeper.
The Police had reported that the 36-year-old shopkeeper was operating her business when Forde invaded the shop armed with a cutlass and demanded money on February 10, around 19:30hrs.
Police said the woman raised an alarm during which Forde began to chop at the grill on the shop and damaged a flat-screen television.
Residents heard the screaming and flocked the shop; they managed to unarm the young man and beat him before handing him over to the Police.
A photo which was sent to the News Room showed that residents tied pieces of wood to the body of the young man and then stuffed him inside a tyre.
Residents found a document from the GDF in Forde’s pocket dated 2018 which revealed that he went absent without leave in August 2015 and was discharged from the Force in November 2017.
