Within 24 hours, 11 of the 12 juveniles who escaped from the Sophia Holding Centre in Georgetown were recaptured.
The inmates broke out of the Centre sometime after midnight Tuesday. Two Police ranks were also beaten by the inmates during their escape.
A 17-year-old of Leopold and Cross Streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown is still on the run. The teen was on remand for murder, the Guyana Police Force said.
The News Room understands that two inmates were caught at Weldaad, West Coast Berbice Wednesday night; one was caught in Leopold Street sometime Wednesday; another one was apprehended in a bus heading to Linden Thursday morning and two others were brought back to the Holding Centre by their parents on Thursday.
The remaining five were captured on Wednesday in Georgetown.
