The Guyana Fire Service (GFS) on Wednesday evening found nothing amiss when it was called to the Arthur Chung Conference Centre to investigate a “burning smell.”
The Centre is being used for a national recount of all votes cast in the March 2 general and regional elections.
Public Relations Officer of the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) Yolanda Ward said: “the building was checked by the fire service and they found nothing.”
She said the smell may have been caused by a truck in the compound that was there to look after the portable toilets at the recount site.
