GECOM starts recount of Region Six votes; 642 ballot boxes counted so far

Having completed the recount of 135 ballot boxes for Region Two, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) on Monday began counting the ballot boxes for Region Six.

Region Six has a total of 378 ballot boxes. That region was allocated the two work stations previously assigned Region Two and is likely to get one other station on Tuesday when GECOM opens two additional work stations approved by the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF).

According to GECOM’s Public Relations Officer, Yolanda Ward, the final nine boxes were completed for Region Two on Monday, 17 for Region Three, 13 for Region Four, 12 for Region Five and the first three for Region Six.

This 54 boxes brought the total number of ballot boxes counted thus far to 642.
