88 ballot boxes counted on Day-16


At the end of Thursday, the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) completed the recounting of 88 boxes –the highest number completed in one day since the exercise started on May 06.

This brings the total number of boxes counted so far to 877.

Of the total, 844 Statements of Recount were tabulated for General Election and 820 for Regional Election.

Public Relations Officer Yolanda Ward said 25 boxes were counted for Region Three, 19 for Region Four, 17 for Region Five, 18 for Region Six and nine for Region Seven.

GECOM is working with twelve recount stations having added two more on Tuesday to speed up the process. The commission is seeking advice from the National COVID-19 Task Force (NCTF) to add two more stations to speed up the recount.
