Vulnerable women, especially those who face domestic violence, will be given special assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic, Minister of Human Services and Social Security Dr Vindhya Persaud announced on Monday.
She said the assistance package will be rolled out shortly and announcements will be made about how women can access the assistance.
The relief package will consist of food items as well as feminine care products.
The initiative is one between the Ministry, the Government of Canada and the United Nations Development Programme.
Minister Persaud said there will be a limited number of these packages and the Ministry’s agencies that deal with domestic violence, gender-based violence and sexual violence will be utilized to identify some of the women who will benefit from the relief packages.
