Police are on the hunt for a woman who reportedly gave her 59-year-old boyfriend ‘bitters’ to drink and which has now landed him in the hospital.
Police Headquarters in a statement revealed that Clarence Charles of Belle West, West Bank Demerara telephoned the Police Station and informed them that he had ingested the substance and was not feeling well.
Ranks showed up at the address at around 20:00h on Saturday where they found Charles lying in front of the house.
He was taken to the West Demerara Regional Hospital where he is in a stable condition.
Charles told the Police that he was given a bottle of ‘bitters’ by his girlfriend about two months ago and he has been drinking it every day until he collapsed yesterday.
Police said the substance will be sent to the laboratory for testing and efforts made so far to contact the girlfriend have been futile.
