Update: Unidentified man dies in hit and run accident

The so far unidentified man of East Indian descent who was struck down in a hit and run accident succumbed to his injuries in the High Dependency Unit of the Georgetown Public Hospital.

He was nursing severe head injuries after the accident on the Success East Coast Demerara Public Road on Tuesday night.

Police Headquarters in a statement noted that the man was walking in the corner of the road when he was struck down by a speeding burgundy coloured Toyota Primo car at around 20:15h.

“As a result of the collision, the pedestrian fell onto the road surface where he received injuries about his body.  The injured pedestrian was later picked up by paramedics in [an] unconscious condition and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation,” Police noted.

Investigations are ongoing.
