A 21-year-old motorcyclist died hours after he crashed into a female Police Officer on the Friendship Railway Embankment, East Coast Demerara on Thursday last.
Dead is Joshua Persaud of Strathspey, East Coast Demerara.
Police Headquarters reported that the accident occurred at about 18:10h on Thursday. Police said the female cop was proceeding east along the northern side of the road on her motorcycle when she stopped to turn south into the Friendship Access Road. The cop said she felt an impact from behind which caused her to fall onto the roadway. Persaud and another motorcyclist had crashed into her; however Persaud was left lying unconscious on the road while the other motorcyclist escaped.
Persaud was picked up by public spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital; he suffered severe head injuries and died on Friday at about 19:30h.
The female cop tested negative for alcohol. Police investigations are ongoing.
