20-year-old Essequibo man dies one week after shot in face


A 20-year-old labourer of Pomona Housing Scheme, Essequibo Coast died on Monday morning at the Suddie Public Hospital, one week after he was shot to the face.

Reeaz Khan and another friend –25-year-old Cordell Grinds –came under fire from persons unknown at Aurora Village, Essequibo Coast on September 29, 2020.

Police Headquarters said they went to a hotel and bar in Aurora village with motorcar PRR 1219 to pay a debt and while re-entering the car they heard two gunshots. They attempted to flee the scene when they heard two more gunshots.

Khan was shot to the face while Grinds was shot to the left arm.

They were both hospitalized at the Suddie Public Hospital.

Khan succumbed to his injuries at about 00:10 hrs on Monday. The body is at the hospital’s mortuary awaiting an autopsy.
