See full statement from the APNU+AFC on the occasion of Youman Nabi:
On the occasion of Youman Nabi, Muslims around the world gather to reflect on the life and works of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
As we commemorate the birth anniversary of this noble prophet we in Guyana reflect on the life of the last Prophet of Islam with reverence. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) personified tolerance and respect for all mankind as he lived unwaveringly by the commandments of God for 63 years.
This occasion encourages us as Guyanese to demonstrate compassion and mercy towards our fellow man and to practice sincere unity in order to truly uplift our nation.
Prophet Muhammad exemplified honesty, trustworthiness, and reliability throughout his life. He is widely acknowledged across the world as an upright man of integrity. It is for this reason that the pagans of Makkah –who were openly hostile towards him – confidently entrusted their valuables with him for safekeeping.
The APNU+AFC Coalition recognizes the contributions of this noble prophet of Islam whose example remain sacred in the daily life of every Muslim.
The teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on tolerance and respect are of paramount importance to Guyana as a multi-ethnic and multicultural society.
Our country recognizes religion is one of our diversities and we maintain, with pride, the freedom to practice our respective faiths. It is a freedom we must zealously guard.
Today, as we commemorate the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) the APNU+AFC Coalition extends best wishes to all our Muslim brothers and sisters at home and in the Diaspora and all Guyanese. We encourage the fostering of brotherhood and nationhood.
May the peace and blessings of Almighty God be with us all.
