Couple killed in accident identified as Christian Missionaries

A couple, who were on Tuesday night killed in an accident on the Linden Highway, have been identified as Cornelis Rozema and Bernice Rozema.

The couple lived at Hararuni Village, located about a mile off the Linden Highway and were Christian Missionaries.

The News Room understands Cornelis moved to Guyana from the Netherlands several years ago and settled here. Reports indicate that he was driving at the time and may have missed a turn, which caused him to swerve into the path of a truck.

The accident occurred at about 20:00h and the News Room understands that the couple were reportedly killed on impact.

In a live video shared on Facebook, several persons were observed at the scene of the accident where the bodies were lying on the road covered in sheets.
