Baby girl dies after father accidentally reverses into her

Eighteen-month-old Adena Ramkisson died at the Georgetown Public Hospital Monday morning; a day after her father accidentally reversed his motorcar into her at their Vryheid’s Lust, East Coast Demerara (ECD) house.

Regional Commander, Senior Superintendent Mahendra Siwnarine confirmed the child’s death to the News Room. The Commander said the father, Danny Ramkissoon remain in a traumatized state but is assisting with the investigation. The Commander stated that the file will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice.

Police Headquarters had reported that Ramkissoon operates a home-based taxi service, and as he was about to leave home to pick up a customer on Sunday morning he felt as though his vehicle ran over something.

He stopped, exited the vehicle, and upon checking, he observed his daughter lying motionless under the left rear side of the car.

A day before this incident, another similar incident at Mahaica, ECD occurred where a 20-month-old boy was crushed to death when his father reversed his motor lorry into him.
