15-month-old baby girl died from brain infection
A post mortem examination done on Monday on 15-month-old baby girl, Sahara La Cruz revealed that she died as a result of a brain infection.
The post mortem was conducted by government pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh at the Kumaka District Hospital Mortuary.
Police had reported that the infant of Cabora Village, Moruca, Region One died on Tuesday last, after experiencing a seizure.
The child lived with her mother, who told police that she was awakened by the baby’s cries at about 03:30h. The mother said she attempted to breastfeed her but the baby refused.
Soon after, the baby began experiencing convulsions and subsequently went into an unconscious state.
