74 new COVID cases recorded

Guyana on Thursday recorded 74 new COVID-19 cases from 822 tests, taking the total number of confirmed cases since March 2020, to 9, 898.
Region Four accounted for the majority of the new cases with 45; while Region Three recorded 14 new cases. Eight new cases came from Region Seven, while seven were recorded in Region Six and Region Nine recorded two new cases; Regions Two and Ten each recorded one new case.
Twelve patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital, 49 are in institutional isolation and 893 are in home isolation. Total recoveries to death from the virus is 8, 721.
Two more COVID-19 deaths were also reported on Thursday, taking the death toll to 223.
