After a decorated senior career that lasted almost 20 years, former Guyana and West Indies captain Ramnaresh Sarwan is elated to serve the sport in a different capacity.
The 40-year-old right-hander, who played 87 Tests and 181 ODIs, scoring over 11,600 runs, was on Monday elected unopposed to the post of Chairman of the Senior Selection Panel of the Guyana Cricket Board.
At those elections, businessman Bissoondyal Singh was elected President.
Sarwan, in a brief interview with News Room Sport, said he is honoured to be given the opportunity to serve the sport that brought him worldwide acclaim.
“I’m looking forward to this new role. I must say a big thank you to those who have placed the confidence in me. Congrats to the other members who were elected today. To them I say let’s work to build Guyana’s cricket,” Sarwan said.
Sarwan replaces another former national player, Rayon Griffith, who previously served as the Chairman of Selectors.
