Guyana has recorded two more COVID-19 deaths, taking the country’s overall toll since March 2020 to 235.

The latest fatalities are two male, one 62-year- old from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and another 45-year-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica).

They both died on April 1, while receiving care at a medical facility. These are the first two deaths to be recorded for the new month.

All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.16), which are in effect until April 30, 2021. This order emphasises:

  • the need for correct and consistent use of a face mask when leaving your home;
  • the importance of maintaining the six feet physical distance from others;
  • and the need for good hand-hygiene to help reduce the spread of COVID-19.
