40 new COVID cases, 12 in ICU

Guyana has recorded a total of 40 new COVID-19 cases, taking the country’s overall number of confirmed cases to 10,580 as of Sunday, April 4, 2021.

Leading the news cases is Region Four with 21; following behind is Region Seven with nine new infections. Regions Ten and Two recorded one new case each and there were also eight new cases recorded in Region Six.

The other regions recorded no new cases. To date, 9,250 persons have recovered while Guyana’s total number of deaths hiked to 243 following the demise of six patients in one day.

There are 1,075 persons in home isolation, 74 patients are in institutional isolation and 12 patients are in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit at the Infectious Diseases Hospital.
