The Guyana Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (GBBFF) has collaborated with Fitness Express to present its first bodybuilding and fitness competition for 2021 – the Novices Championships- which will be held Virtually in Linden on Saturday, May 29 at the Lichas Hall.
In February 2020, the federation had staged its Novices and ‘Mr. Linden’ at the same venue.
According to a release from the Federation on Monday, “the competition is to celebrate life, health, and fitness whilst promoting a healthy lifestyle and healthy living.”
The release indicated that athletes, backstage personnel and executives of the GBBFF will have to observe all COVID-19 protocols.
On stage, athletes will be required to stand six feet apart from each other, while backstage athletes will be required to wear their masks and to maintain the mandatory physical distancing.
Judges will be seated six feet from each other and will be required to wear their masks.
There will be about 25 athletes competing in the three different segments of the competition, which would be Bodybuilding, Ms. Bikini and Men’s Physique.
Some of the athletes who have already signed up to compete are Mahendra Ramjit, Quamie July, Shaquan Caleb, Gail Karim, Alexander Correia, Yusuf Khan, Denroy Ross, Leson Jones, Joel Ramnauth, Michael Cockfield, Mohamed Razack and Michael Sampson.
Last December, the Federation hosted its Virtual ‘Resilience’ Championships at the National Cultural Centre, which was deemed a success.
