Another COVID death pushes toll to 306
With two deaths reported earlier on Tuesday, the Ministry of Health has confirmed that a third person who tested positive for COVID-19 succumbed to the disease on Monday.
The latest fatality is a 77-year-old female from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica). The two other deaths are a 66-year-old and a 47-year-old – both men – from Region 4 (Demerara-Mahaica). They all died while receiving care at a medical facility on May 3.
These deaths have taken Guyana’s overall death toll since March 2020 to 306 and also take the death toll for May to six thus far. The latest deaths follow four others who died on Sunday.
Importantly, with the addition of the deaths reported today, there have now been 106 deaths recorded over the past two months. Between March 11, 2020, to March 4, 2021, Guyana recorded exactly 200 deaths.
In April alone, the deadliest month of the pandemic so far, 65 individuals who were infected, lost their lives.
All Guyanese are reminded to observe the protocols of the COVID-19 EMERGENCY MEASURES (NO.17), which are in effect until May 31, 2021.
