Guyana’s death toll for COVID-19 has increased to 351 following two deaths, the Ministry of Health reported on Friday.
The latest fatalities are a 52-year-old female from Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) and a 58-year-old male from Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), who both died on Thursday while receiving care at a medical facility.
The latest deaths take the death toll for May to 52.
Meanwhile, another 160 people were infected with COVID-19 over a 24-hour period; this means that the total number of cases recorded since March 11, 2020, has increased to 15,903.
These new infections were recorded from 1,061 tests. The new cases were recorded in all ten administrative regions: Region One (one case), Region Two (eight cases), Region Three (27 cases), Region Four (63 cases), Region Five (10 cases), Region Six (five cases), Region Seven (19 cases), Region Eight (16 cases), Region Nine (two cases) and Region 10 (nine cases).
There are now18 persons in the COVID-19 Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 113 are in institutional isolation, 1,876 are in home isolation and eight are in institutional quarantine.
