Two persons have been arrested as the police report three marijuana finds on Saturday, including one at the New Amsterdam Prison.
Police said that in the first instance, at about 12:30 hours, ranks at a roadblock along the Weldaad Public Road, West Coast Berbice, stopped minibus with ten passengers.
A search was conducted on a 23-year-old suspect, who was wearing a black haversack, where five wrapped parcels of ganja were found.
Police said it weighed 4,500 grams and the suspect was told of the offence arrested and cautioned.
Meanwhile, at about 06:10 hrs, at the same roadblock, police arrested a 40-year-old woman with 9,525 grams of marijuana.
A statement from police headquarters noted that a black Fielder wagon motorcar was stopped with three passengers and the driver.
A search was conducted in the motorcar where a multi-coloured shopping bag was found in the trunk which contained two wrapped parcels containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis.
The 40-year-old woman reportedly admitted ownership of the cannabis and was arrested.
Additionally, a routine search conducted at the southwestern side of the New Amsterdam Prison compound was done on Saturday.
During the search, bulky parcels wrapped in transparent plastic containing a quantity of leaves, seeds and stems, suspected to be cannabis were found abandoned.
The matter was reported to the police at Central Police Station and the suspected cannabis was handed over and weighed which amounted to 160 grams.
